Tidy Up The Kitchen

I recently decided to work on a project that is just too practical. Let's tidy up unseemly shopping bags into these disposable bag dispensers. Real quick and easy on sewing some dishcloths to match your kitchen motif.

Both of these can be found in my Etsy shop.

Pleasure Pillows

Do your cats have a special place for all their toys? We keep our toys in a small clothes basket ... mind you, it's not full of toys. But every night, they knock over their basket and spread toys all over the house. I only wish I could train them to pick up their toys! ;)

Well, after inspecting the sad state of some of the catnip critters ... some have lost eyes and tails and ... what was that thing? Some are barely recognizable! LOL I have decided to give them a few simple pleasures. Nothing fancy, but full of fun. This year, we are to simplify.

Oh yes! Cats go batty over these little pyramids filled with catnip ... Puur-eeoow! Can you just see your cat doing the bunny kick on this?

10th Anniversary 9.11.11

Today has been a difficult day for Americans nationwide and abroad. We are in remembrance of of the tragic events that transpired 10 years ago in NYC. I've seen a lot of postings on FB with deep condolences to families that were affected during that time. There are also a number of new Treasuries posted on Etsy with lovely images depicting September 11 through artists' creations.

I hope that Americans find peace and know that on this day we are all United. We still stand together. We are still the Land of the Free. Thank you to all who serve for our great Nation.

Cats In Disguise

A big hearty welcome!

Yep, it's that time of the year when we start creating whimsical sock 'things'. This is only our 2nd year making these, but last year they were a hit! You'll be amazed at how much laughter one of these fluffy babies can be! They each have their own character and they even talk. Well, in your head they do! But there is no end to the fun you'll have with the family of cats in disguise.

I know ... some of you don't care for cats. But your dog might, or maybe your feline needs a snuggle pal? We thought of pumpin' these guys with catnip for those special 'needs' ... so if you're one of those special orders, who just needs a fix, be sure to drop us a line!

How much cuter and stranger can you be at the same time?

Okay, you get the point.

Retro Black & White Skirt

Well, it's been an interesting start of September so far. Still trying to catch up on July and August projects and have neglected my personal sewing. So ... decided to get off my duff and work on a skirt for myself. :)

The fabric was indeed purchased off of Etsy and it's a beautiful retro textured polyester blend. Very thick and wavy. Is that how you describe textiles? Hmmm. I dunno. It's way cute!

I chose a flair skirt pattern with additional tabs on each side of the hips for added cuteness.
My goodness, the skirt turned out adorable!

The vintage fabric was purchased at the KeepingHome Etsy Shop and the skirt pattern used is a 2004 NEW LOOK 6345 Style F. The fabric was easy to work with, but even though the sewing pattern states *easy on the front cover, I found it a bit challenging otherwise.

If you choose to use this pattern, make sure you align the tabs properly and sew the buttons on before attaching your back facing on the yoke. For a nicer look, do a back stitch on the back facing to finish it off.

2.5 yards at 60" width did the trick on this beauty! Also pay careful attention to the finish size measurements. The pattern runs a bit snug, especially if you're using non-stretch material.

The Marble Faun, 1859

Methinks it is a token of healthy and gentle characteristics, when women of high thoughts and accomplishments love to sew; especially as they are never more at home with their own hearts than while so occupied.
